In a post Serial world, podcasts are more popular than ever. At last count there was over 300,000 of them available to download world wide. Because of this, navigating the podcast minefield can make for a tough trip. With so much choice its hard to know where to start so here's five inspiring and educational Podcasts that stand head and shoulders above the rest.


TED Radio Hour


The TED Radio Hour is a journey through fascinating ideas: astonishing inventions, fresh approaches to old problems, new ways to think and create. Based on Talks given by riveting speakers on the world-renowned TED stage, each show is centered on a common theme – such as the source of happiness, crowd-sourcing innovation, power shifts, or inexplicable connections.

Stuff You Should Know

Hosted by Josh Clark and Charles W. "Chuck" Bryant, the Stuff You Should Know Podcast educates listeners on wide ranging and fascinating topics. The pair cover their chosen topics with their own brand of humour and make often complex issues understandable for the layman.



 
 This American Life

This American Life is a weekly public radio show broadcast on more than 500 stations to about 2.2 million listeners. There's a theme to each episode of This American Life, and a variety of stories on that theme. Most of the stories are journalism, with an occasional comedy routine or essay.





The Grey NATO

This brand new podcast discusses the finer points of travel, diving, cars, watches and gear. Hosted by writers Jason Heaton and James Stacey, the show breaks down their love for adventure and the many forms it can take. While the Podcast is mainly watch focussed, theres plenty of inspiration for non watch nerds too!






Art of Manliness 

Presented by AOM's founder Brett McKay, the podcast teaches its listeners practical skills in collaboration with expert guests and delivers these lessons with a unique style that makes a lasting impression. Oh, and despite its name its mot just for men.
