The Weekenders are fair weather boots ideal for spring and autumn and are available in three colours— charcoal rough & tough, copper rough & tough and hawthorne muleskinner. They're lightweight and comfy enough to be worn without socks straight out of the box and feature a textured “Hill” sole for added grip and a decidedly casual aesthetic. Alongside the boots theres also an equally specced low-cut oxford available in the same colourways. Both the oxfords and The chukkas feature stylistic unfinished edges, suede lacing and contrast stitching that really drive home the weekend feel.
The Weekenders aren't work boots but that doesn’t mean they aren’t built to take a beating - they’re made by the same hands on the same line as all of Red Wings other Heritage boots at the world famous Plant 2 in Red Wing, Minnesota. The durable leather for their uppers is sourced from the S.B. Foot Tanning Company just down the road from the plant where they’ve been getting their leather for over a century.
Red Wing's “stitch-down” construction technique keeps the Weekender lightweight and easier to break in by turning out the outer perimeter of the leather upper and then cementing and stitching it to the midsole before it’s trimmed. To save on weight, Red Wing have dropped the sturdy ribbed insole used in their Goodyear welt boots like the 875, this makes the Weekender more flexible and ready to wear straight out of the box. Like all Red Wings, when your pair starts looking tired, you can send them back to the repair department and they'll get them looking brand new again.
