East London retailer Hostem recently opened their new spring showroom on Nichol Street close to their Redchurch Street HQ. The gallery creates an open plan environment where a sturdy oak framework sitting beneath a vaulted glass ceiling is complemented by artworks from of Graham Collins, Lucien Smith, and Kika Karadi. The showroom recently saw the introduction of its own in-house dispensary dedicated exclusively to natural fragrance and skin care brand, Haeckels.
The hand crafted products Haeckels lovingly produce are formulated in their cliff-top Lab in Margate where they use locally grown botanicals that offer the very best anti-oxidant properties. Holding one of only two licenses in England to harvest seaweed from the English coast, founder Dom Bridges takes great pride in the license as extension of his responsibility to care for the coastline, to clean it and to monitor it just like any other farmer in the world. In recent years, the company has started to grow but it still plays an active part in the local community by organising beach cleans and taking part in marine conservation survey as well as educating their customers about the natural wealth of Margate's coastline.
