The 501® Jean: Stories of an Original - Episode 4 JAPAN
Levi’s presents the fourth episode of their documentary series celebrating the history the of humble 501. Episode 4 explores Japan's obsession for Americana and examines the denim culture Levi's® has generated beyond its homeland. The film tells the story of Levi's arrival in Japan in the 1950s, the vintage denim explosion that culminated in the 1990s, and how Japan’s take on Americana is now globally influential. The short film is a perfect example of how Japan is the only country in the world that does Americana better than the Americans.

The Summer Setup
The days are getting longer and the weather is warming up (finally!). In celebration of Summer's return I spent last Sunday in the park, taking in the sunshine over a few beers with friends and I got to thinking about my summer setup. I decided, after almost 6 months of wet and dreary winter, it was time to step up my summer wardrobe so I started putting together a wishlist of key pieces from some of my favourite brands.

Born in the USA: Billiam Jeans
I recently had the pleasure of meeting Billiam Denim founder Bill Mitchell at an Oliver Sweeney event earlier this month. Bill first started making denim on his mother's sewing machine in 2009 as way to pass the time and since then he has turned his hobby into one of the most innovative and original denim brands in America.

Field Report: RAF Church Fenton

First opened in 1937, RAF Church Fenton is the former home of the first American Eagle Squadrons and was formally regarded as one of the UK's most important strategic airfields, offering rapid reaction fighter defence to the industrial cities of Sheffield, Bradford and Leeds during the second World War. Now, after decades of faithful service in defence of the realm, the air station stands as a lonely hostage to both time and decay.

Oliver Sweeney Leeds Relaunch Party
British shoemaker Oliver Sweeney has rapidly become somewhat of a legend in the Menswear arena. Now headed up by master cobbler Tim Cooper, their quirky designs and unrivalled attention to detail have catapulted the brand to well deserved global success. As the portfolio of Oliver Sweeney's standalone stores continues to grow, their Leeds store has recently undergone a total overhaul. I was lucky enough to be invited to attend the relaunch party last night.

Land Rover Reborn

When Land Rover announced they were killing of the Defender in 2013, there was a mass outpouring of disappointment and sadness from Land Rover enthusiasts all over the world. The much loved off roader was an icon of British motoring and probably the most famous production 4x4 we’ve ever known. Equally at home on the narrow and winding lanes of North Yorkshire or thundering across the pitch black Iraqi desert on a special forces raid, the humble Land Rover forged its self a reputation as a rugged workhorse and a design classic. The last in a line of a well loved automotive institution - never has one vehicle given so much to so many.
